Todrick Hall Joins the Cast of Shrek the Musical

Following on from its most recent tour Shrek the Musical is set to transfer to the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith for a six week run from 19 July 2024.


It has just been announced that American singer, choreographer and YouTuber Todrick Hall will take on the role of Donkey for this run. He joins cast members Antony Lawrence as Shrek, Joanne Clifton as Princess Fiona, James Gillan as Lord Farquaad and Cherece Richards as Dragon.


Todrick first shot to fame on American Idol in 2010 and since then is best knowing for his judging role on RuPaul’s Drag Race. He is no stranger to the stage and made his Broadway debut in The Colour of Purple and then went on to star in the original Broadway cast of Memphis. Other theatre credits include Lola in Kinky Boots on Broadway, Ogie in Waitress on Broadway and Billy Flynn in Chicago on Broadway and the West End. He is also set to star in the UK production of Burlesque opening at the Manchester Opera House in June this year, a new musical for which he has also contributed multiple songs.


The award-winning musical is based on the much loved Dreamwork’s film and brings the world of Shrek to life on stage. Written by David Lindsay-Abaire and Jeanine Tesori, Shrek the Musical first opened on Broadway in 2008. The production received 8 Tony Award nominations and 4 Olivier Award nominations for the West End production.


The creative team for the current production includes Nick Winston (Director and Choreographer), Sam Holmes (Co-director), Phillip Witcomb (Set and Costume Designer), Ben Cracknell (Lighting Designer), Ben Harrison (Sound Designer), Nina Dunn (Projection Designer) with casting by Jim Arnold.


Shrek the Musical will run at the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith from 19 July until 31 August 2024.
