The previously announced London debut of Tony Award Winning musical Natasha, Pierre and The Great Comet of 1812 has today announced its full cast.
The production, set to open at London's Donmar Warehouse later this year, will be directed by Tim Sheader (Carousel, Jesus Christ Superstar) and will star Declan Bennett (Eastenders, Moulin Rouge!) as Pierre, Chumisa Dornford-May (The Phantom of the Opera) as Countess Natasha Rostova, Daniel Krikler (Fiddler on the Roof) as Fedya Dolokhov, Eugene McCoy (The 39 Steps) as Prince Bolkonsky/Andrey, Annette McLaughlin (Player Kings) as Marya Dimitriyevna, Maimuna Memon (Standing at the Sky’s Edge) as Sonya Rostova, Jamie Muscato (Moulin Rouge!) as Anatole, Cedric Neal (Guys and Dolls) as Balaga, Chloe Saracco (Mary) and Cat Simmons (Come From Away) as Helene Kuragina Bezukhova. They are joined by Andrew Berlin (Bonnie and Cylde), Kimberly Blake (Priscilla: The Party), Ali Goldsmith (The Burnt City), Chihiro Kawasaki (The Burnt City), Nitai Levi (The Band's Visit) and Annie Majin who make up the show's ensemble.
Natasha, Pierre and The Great Comet of 1812 tells a portion of Tolstoy's epic novel War and Peace and focuses on the romance between Natasha and Anatole as well as Pierre's hunt for his life's purpose.
With an indie-folk inspired score by Dave Malloy (The Witches, Ghost Quartet), the original Broadway production ran for 336 performances and earned 12 Tony Award Nominations and bagged 2 wins. It follows in the footsteps of other long overdue London premiere Next to Normal that received its first British life at the Donmar last year, 14 years after its Broadway debut, and the UK production sold out almost instantly. Natasha, Pierre is also already sold out.
This new production will feature Ellen Kane as choreographer, Pippa Ailion as casting director, Grace Duggan as resident assistant director, Fiona Dunn as associate director, with costume design by Evie Gurney, lighting design by Howard Hudson, Richard Johnston as associate casting director, sound design by Nick Lidster and Gareth Tucker for Autograph, Nuno Silva as associate choreographer, musical supervision by Nicholas Skilbeck, set design by Leslie Travers, and musical direction by Sam Young.
Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812 will run at the Donmar Warehouse from December 9th 2024 to February 8th 2025.
