Scissorhandz: A Musical Reinvented will play at Southwark Playhouse next year.

A musical retelling of the classic 90's movie is heading to Southwark Playhouse early next year.

Starring Jordan Kai Burnett as Scissorhandz (a role that she portrayed in the original LA cast) and Emma Williams (The Secret Garden, Half a Sixpence) as Peg, the new jukebox musical parodies the story of Edward, an 'unfinished humanoid' whose hands have been replaced with scissors, who is taken in by a family with a daughter that he falls in love with.

Scissorhandz also stars Dionne Gipson (Dreamgirls, NCIS) as The Inventor, Lauren Jones (Bonnie & Clyde) as Kim, Ryan O’Connor (Big Little Lies) as Helen, Richard Carson (Les Misérables) as Jim, Annabelle Terry as Esmeralda (Who Do Ya Love?), Luke Cairns (who makes their professional debut), Grace Towning (babies the musical), and Candida Mosoma (The Lion King).

The show, which is being co-produced by Lass Bass and Michelle Visage, will be directed by writer Bradley Bredeweg, choreographed by Alexzandra Sarmiento, with musical direction by Gregory Nabours. Production design is by James Pearse Connelly, costume design is by Abby Clarke, lighting design is by Adam King, and sound design is by Yvonne Gilbert, with casting direction by Harry Blumenau.

Scissorhandz will run at Southwark Playhouse Elephant from 23rd January to 29th March 2025. Tickets can be purchased direct from the theatre.
