On Monday 19th August, a double-decker TFL bus drove into London's Palace Theatre, home to Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

The theatre sits at the crossroads between Charing Cross Road and Shaftesbury Avenue, a busy crossing for vehicles, pedestrians, and public transport.

In a statement, the theatre owners Nimax Theatres have said: "Yesterday lunchtime Monday 19 August, a bus mounted the pavement and damaged a part of the Palace Theatre canopy on Shaftesbury Avenue.  There were no injuries to any person, and the building was not open to the public at the time. The building is unaffected and safe. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child plays Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday and is closed on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays."They have confirmed that no performances will be disrupted by the incident.

The cause of the incident is still unclear, but a London bus mounted the pavement on Shaftesbury Avenue at approximately 1pm, hitting the metal canopy covering the side fire exits.
