Al Dente London Restaurant Review

Al Dente Exterior Angel

Inspired and created by a group of friends who wanted to share their passion of handmade fresh pasta with the rest of London, Al Dente is the perfect spot to enjoy traditional Italian food at an affordable price.

Al Dente has four locations across London; Fitzrovia, Monument, South Kensington and most recently Angel. We visited their new Angel branch, which only opened a couple of months ago.

The small restaurant has a limited amount of seating but seemed to be able to accommodate walk-ins - no problem (we did however visit on a Monday though so can’t comment for the weekend rush). The venue offers a calming ambience with its low lighting and simple décor, which compliments the cosy feel of its food.

Their small but varied menu includes most of the crowd-pleasing Italian dishes you would expect to see as well as a couple of wild cards. A quote on the wall of the restaurant states ‘The House of Fresh Pasta’ and it definitely lives up to the name.

The dessert menu consists of only four but again includes the fan favourites. We opted for the Tiramisù and the profiteroles and they did not disappoint!

Al Dente doesn’t feel the need to overcomplicate things like a lot of trendy London restaurants nowadays. Instead, it offers up authentic Italian comfort food at a price that won’t break the bank. A real hidden gem in the heart of Angel – the food, the atmosphere – everything about this place just works.
